Brian's Thoughts

Published: 06/09/2026 Focus: Natural Gas
Traders finally started taking notice that we were not THAT bearish - Natty went to 3.30 drawing closer to the implied fair value at 3.449 - questions remain on demand for the summer as we have started out on “average” which puts a cap on how high we might go - there are some expecting $4+ - I think there will be a flattening of the curve at 3.50. Demand looks on par with historical averages - so I think we are on track for 3.50. Starting off the week slightly below the key 3.247 - need to see how this plays out at the beginning of the week with a break below that key support/resistance number - 3.127 is the next support level if 3.247 is not recaptured by the bulls.

Today's Update

Updated: 2026-06-09 23:46:40 Length: 555 chars
Natural gas prices are currently hovering around $3.30, inching closer to the implied fair value of $3.449. Traders are cautiously optimistic, with some eyeing a potential rise above $4, although current demand aligns with historical averages, suggesting a flattening around $3.50. Recent cooler weather forecasts have pressured prices, while ongoing LNG plant maintenance has led to a one-week low. Watch for key support at $3.247; a break below may steer prices towards $3.127. Overall, the market remains reactive to weather and geopolitical headlines.

AI Analysis

💹

For Energy Traders:

Current market conditions indicate a neutral technical score of 0/5, suggesting limited momentum for significant price movement. Key Fibonacci support is at 3.05 and resistance at 3.2. The ML price forecast indicates a slight decline of 0.14%, with a range between 2.96 and 3.31. Traders should monitor for potential short-term opportunities or risks around these levels.

For Producers (Oil & Gas Companies):

The fundamental balance stands at 3.78 BCFD with a slight increase of +3.30, indicating a stable supply environment. The bullish sentiment in the overall market, particularly for crude oil with a sentiment score of +0.600, suggests favorable conditions for production planning. Producers should consider adjusting hedging strategies in light of these dynamics and monitor potential fluctuations in demand due to weather patterns.

🏭

For Consumers (Industrial/Utilities):

With cooling demand dominating across regions, particularly in the West (CDD: 26.0), consumers can expect potential cost fluctuations in energy procurement. The anticipated low heating demand and moderate cooling demand suggest that supply reliability remains stable, but consumers should remain vigilant about procurement strategies to mitigate any unexpected price spikes, particularly if weather patterns shift.

📊

For Commodity Professionals (Analysts, Consultants):

The current market picture presents a neutral technical outlook with no strong bullish or bearish signals. The fundamental balance is stable, and the bullish sentiment for crude oil indicates strong underlying support for prices. Analysts should focus on the weather outlook and its impact on demand, as well as the implications of recent news sentiment which could shift market dynamics.
