Brian's Thoughts

Published: 06/29/2026 Focus: Natural Gas
Henry Hub dropped to $3.18 Monday, which sounds more dramatic than the data really warrants — because here is the thing, supply did not materially change from last week. Production is still running in that 109 to 111 Bcf per day range, storage is still sitting about 5.6% above the five-year average, and the injection pace is roughly what it was. The market just decided to lead with the "ample supply" headline and ignore the heatwave building across the eastern two-thirds of the country. Fair enough, technically — because that heat has been tracking right in line with five-year demand averages, which is not the kind of weather that breaks a range. It is the kind of weather that keeps you comfortable inside it. Fair value in our model is $3.525, and there are eyes on considerably higher prices this summer if the LNG pull and a hotter-than-expected July combine. We are bullish on the structural picture. The honest read on the prompt, though, is that demand has to actually surprise to the upside — not just show up on schedule — to push $3.342 out of the way for good. The thermometer has been a 6 out of 10 when the market needs an 8. Until that changes, respect the range.

Today's Update

Updated: 2026-06-29 23:46:08 Length: 489 chars
Natural Gas prices at Henry Hub dropped to $3.18 as the market focused on "ample supply" despite a heatwave across the eastern U.S. Production remains steady at 109-111 Bcf/day, with storage levels 5.6% above the five-year average. While demand aligns with historical norms, it hasn't exceeded expectations—hence the price dip. Fair value is pegged at $3.525, but a surprise uptick in demand could push prices higher. Keep an eye on summer LNG pull and heat forecasts for potential shifts.

AI Analysis

💹

For Energy Traders:

Current market indicators suggest a neutral sentiment with a fundamental balance of 2.28 BCFD indicating a slight decrease of -0.80. Traders should note the Fibonacci support level at 3.08 and resistance at 3.24, which may guide short-term trading strategies.

The ML price forecast indicates a potential downward movement of 0.70% with a projected range between 2.98 and 3.34. Traders should be cautious of volatility and consider these levels for entry or exit points.

For Producers (Oil & Gas Companies):

The neutral market sentiment, evidenced by a fundamental balance of 2.28 BCFD, may suggest stability in production planning. However, the high cooling demand across all regions indicates a potential increase in gas consumption, which could impact supply dynamics.

Producers should evaluate hedging strategies against price fluctuations, especially with the ML forecast indicating a potential decline. Maintaining flexibility in production levels could mitigate risks associated with sudden market shifts.

🏭

For Consumers (Industrial/Utilities):

With the weather outlook showing high cooling demand and low heating demand, consumers can expect potential cost fluctuations in energy procurement. The fundamental balance of 2.28 BCFD suggests a stable supply, but any shifts in production or demand could affect pricing.

Utilities should consider hedging options to manage risks associated with price volatility, particularly as the ML forecast predicts a slight downward trend in prices.

📊

For Commodity Professionals (Analysts, Consultants):

The overall market is characterized by a neutral sentiment, with a fundamental balance of 2.28 BCFD indicating slight bearish pressure due to a -0.80 change. The cooling demand is a significant driver, particularly in the West, which may lead to regional supply adjustments.

Analysts should monitor the risks associated with potential supply disruptions and the implications of the ML price forecast suggesting a downward trend. Identifying shifts in demand and production strategies will be crucial for accurate market assessments moving forward.
