Brian's Thoughts

Published: 06/30/2026 Focus: Natural Gas
Henry Hub dropped to $3.18 Monday, which sounds more dramatic than the data really warrants — because here is the thing, supply did not materially change from last week. Production is still running in that 109 to 111 Bcf per day range, storage is still sitting about 5.6% above the five-year average, and the injection pace is roughly what it was. The market just decided to lead with the "ample supply" headline and ignore the heatwave building across the eastern two-thirds of the country. Fair enough, technically — because that heat has been tracking right in line with five-year demand averages, which is not the kind of weather that breaks a range. It is the kind of weather that keeps you comfortable inside it. Fair value in our model is $3.525, and there are eyes on considerably higher prices this summer if the LNG pull and a hotter-than-expected July combine. We are bullish on the structural picture. The honest read on the prompt, though, is that demand has to actually surprise to the upside — not just show up on schedule — to push $3.342 out of the way for good. The thermometer has been a 6 out of 10 when the market needs an 8. Until that changes, respect the range.

Today's Update

Updated: 2026-06-30 23:46:38 Length: 521 chars
Natural Gas prices recently dipped to $3.18, despite stable production levels and storage above the five-year average. The market is currently fixated on "ample supply," disregarding the heatwave across much of the U.S. that aligns with average demand. While fair value sits at $3.525, a surge in LNG exports and hotter July temperatures could push prices higher. However, demand must exceed expectations to break through the $3.342 resistance. Keep an eye on weather patterns and LNG flows for potential price movements!

AI Analysis

💹

For Energy Traders:

Current market conditions indicate a neutral sentiment, with a Fibonacci support level at 3.24 and a resistance at 3.44. The downward ML price forecast of -0.28% suggests potential short-term price challenges, especially as cooling demand is high across all regions. Traders should consider this volatility when making decisions, as the market may experience fluctuations near these support and resistance levels.

For Producers (Oil & Gas Companies):

The fundamental balance is currently at 2.28 BCFD with a notable decrease of -0.80, indicating potential oversupply concerns. Producers should adjust their production planning accordingly and consider hedging strategies to mitigate risks associated with the market sentiment. The cooling demand suggests a stable short-term consumption outlook, but producers should remain cautious of price movements influenced by the weather outlook.

🏭

For Consumers (Industrial/Utilities):

With the current weather outlook indicating high cooling demand and low heating needs, consumers can expect stable supply conditions. However, the potential for price fluctuations exists due to the Fibonacci resistance at 3.44. It may be prudent for consumers to evaluate their procurement strategies and consider hedging against potential cost increases in the coming days.

📊

For Commodity Professionals (Analysts, Consultants):

The current market is characterized by a neutral sentiment with a fundamental balance of 2.28 BCFD. The overall cooling demand across regions is a significant driver, although the downward ML price forecast suggests potential bearish trends. Analysts should monitor the convergence of these factors, as shifts in weather patterns and market sentiment could lead to notable outlook changes.
